It’s a Record! Newport Coast Mansion Sells for a Whopping $61 Million

On October 26 a home was sold for $61 million, shattering the three-year-old record for the priciest residential deal in Orange County, California. This despite the fact that we’re entering a typically slower season home-selling season and we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic.
The home was sold in one of the OC’s most prominent neighborhoods for about 10% less than the original asking price of $68 million. At nearly 19,000-square feet, this Newport Coast home is perched on a double-lot property of nearly an acre, taking in an 80-mile panorama of city lights and ocean views.
GORGEOUS BUT NOT OCEANFRONT
According to the Orange County Register, the home was completed back in 2017 in a contemporary Medietarian style. Mature palm trees and beautiful gardens fill out the front of the estate with the house itself wrapping around a courtyard with a fountain. Spread across three stories, the Orange County home has six bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and an open floor plan for seamless indoor and outdoor living. Amenities in the home include a gym, sauna, movie theatre, game room, office, bonus room, and den. Additionally, the mansion has a spacious guest house for family and friends to stay in while visiting as well as a 6,800-square foot garage with room for more than 12 cars.
Although the property has stunning ocean views from nearly every room, the $61 million home is not oceanfront, nor is it anywhere close to the water, which may shock some. The estate is located in the hills far above the Newport coastline, with around a 10-minute drive to the beach.
The home lies within the 24/7 guard-gated community of Crystal Cove, the mansion filled development is home to local billionaires including a notably large percentage of homeowners who hail from mainland China, according to Dirt Real Estate. Living within the exclusive Crystal Cove gates the buyer of this $61 million property will pay $2,500 a month in HOA dues.
